For now, the site (corporationfortravelpromotion.com) is a B2B website devoted more to information pertaining to itself, and what the CTP plans to do.

The CTP 11 member board’s latest meeting was at the Sabre Holdings HQ in Southlake, TX on Jan 6, 2010.

The agenda included a website update to the board, and the site may also see some updates very soon. The current information provided on the site dates back to Oct 2010.

After all the infrastructure is in place, the CTP is getting ready to launch an international ad campaign called ‘Destination America.’ It will include online, print and television ads which provide information about the rules for entering the United States.

President Obama has also agreed to pitch travel to the United States in a public service video announcement. The video will be launched in May 2011, at the Discover America Pow Wow in San Francisco.

Pow Wow is an annual event organized by the U.S. Travel Association. The CTP is also considering use of the Discover America trademark owned by the USTA, with regional sites targeting specific overseas markets.

CTP activities, including the website, are being funded by a combination of the $10 ESTA fee charged on visitors from visa waiver countries and matching contributions from the private sector, upto a combined maximum of $200 million. The CTP’s main jobs, therefore, are to collect the private funds and spend the total amount on promotion of US travel.
