UpTake has recently launched a new program called “Travel Gems” which showcases bloggers’ posts throughout our site. Every time a post links to us, we “hear” it via the brilliant pingback/trackback technology. The issue coming up during the first stages of this program is that pingbacks are not being heard. So, to avoid this issue in the future, we have created a step-by-step breakdown showing how to manually allow pingbacks/trackbacks.
First, log in to WordPress and enter the Dashboard. Second, go to the “Settings” tab on the left hand side of the blog and choose “Discussion”:
Then make sure the “Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article” has a check mark next to it. Otherwise we won’t be able to hear it.

I have a WordPress blog, and have the settings marked as you indicated. I’ve noticed, however, that I get pingbacks on specific posts (i.e. http://minnemom.com/2010/02/16/ropes-course-nickelodeon-universe-mall-america//), but I receive no notification if someone links to my blog in general (http://minnemom.com). Is there a way to fix this?
